Photos tell the story

In the last several days, from one hour to the next, the house changed in a significant way.   I’ll let the photos tell the story.

The front room is just a shell

We didn’t expect (or need) rain!

De-nailing the lumber — not glamorous or fun, but necessary

1×12’s about to be removed

Front room gone

Light and shadow inside what remains

About to pull the roof down (much safer than removing it by hand)

Roof down

Pick up sticks .. and beautiful sticks they are

Tons of square nails

Kitchen walls gone

Pushing the house framing down

Framing on the front of the house coming down

A few walls and floors remain

This is where we begin on Monday

These boards haven’t seen the light of day in over 100 years!

A hefty load of lumber — (mostly 1×12’s and 2×4’s) — on its way to our lumber barn

It’s satisfying work, for sure .. but I can’t wait to start building the little homes we’re envisioning. Where are you located, Cher?
