Before the Rain, Let There Be Fire

Shortly after buying our home in East Texas, we hired a tree crew to partially cut down an almost dead pine tree in our backyard that was hit by lightning years ago.

Ever since then, we’ve had a ginormous burn pile in our backyard in the spot near where we hope to build our guest house one day.

We decided to set a torch to it today because the cold front was on its way and bringing rain.

I was a little worried that such a large pile would get out of control, but Mark and I watched it from start to finish and watered down the areas that seem to burn a little too hot.

It was a productive day and a fun day.  I’d forgotten how mesmerizing fire can be.

We also decided to burn a smaller burn pile in our fire pit.

Glad that we got that chore done and there were no mishaps!
