Recreating the Past

Have you seen the work of Michael Paul Smith?

If not, check out these amazing shots of vintage scenes that he’s recreated using toy cars and models he’s created.

One day, I saw one of his final photos, like this one:

Have you seen the amazing photography of Michael Paul Smith? If not, you must, MUST hop on over and check it out.

Then I saw the set-up shot:

I was like “no way!”

I went back and forth, and back and forth.

His work just blows my mind.

Here are some more that I think are so cool.

I cannot even fathom the amount of work it must take to build all the models, set up the shot, get the lighting just right . . . all for just a few final shots.

Can you?

Wowza.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed seeing this little sample of his work.   If you would like to see more, check him out on  Flickr.

[UPDATE]  To see more of Smith’s work, including a fascinating video, check out Colassal’s new post.

Great post – amazing artist! His talent and attention to details is remarkable. He proves everything is not as it appears. Kind of like your work, there is life left in these delapitated structures – it takes vision to see beyond the reality.

Golly!! That is amazing work! My hubs is a model railroad guy and his era is 1957, I’m going to forward this to him because I think he will be fascinated with these. Remarkable!

Cool! I’m sure if he loves model railroads, he’ll love Mr. Smith’s work. 🙂
