One Cool House: Fox Heart Farm

I have to share with you some photos of a farmhouse I recently discovered on Houzz.

It’s owned by an architect, Mark Ash, and his wife, Kelley Ash, an artist and owner of Sweet Gravy Studio.

I said “Wow” the minute I saw the classic farmhouse architecture, one of my favorite architectural styles.

Love the white board and batten siding on most of the house and the restrained bright splashes of color here and there.

The porches are wide and deep, allowing ample room for outdoor living.

Inside the house I discovered a riot of color and lots of design elements to admire.
For example, I love the industrial, orange-y barn door.  I’m a big fan of space-saving barn doors and pocket doors, seen here . . .

. . . and also to their son’s bedroom.
The large antique, distressed chest was once used in fabric factory.

Speaking of bedrooms for the kids, one of their little girl’s rooms is pretty and quaint, tucked underneath the home’s gable roof.

Another barn-like door was installed in their dining room.

Love the oversized “a”.

The homeowners did a good job balancing their choice of colors with wood plank walls painted a bright white, effectively making most of the rooms bright and light.

Mark and Kelley also used salvaged wood throughout the new home.  Nowhere is this more evident than in their kitchen where reclaimed wood walls, sporting their original paint are displayed.

I also love their sunny vintage-style yellow stove and refrigerator.
Reclaimed wood is also used on the ceiling of the master bedroom. They used various sizes and shapes to create an mosaic effect that I’m sure they admire every day.

The windows in their bedroom (and son’s bedroom) provide plenty of light and privacy.
Finally, in their master bathroom, they employed the use of a rustic, distressed wall cabinet and a fun industrial sink the homeowners bought from City Farmhouse, a store I definitely want to shop at next time we’re in Tennessee.

Wow, this looks fantastic. Looks like something straight out of a movie. I’d love to visit somewhere like this. Looks like it’d be a quiet area too.
