April Showers Bring May Flowers

Spring has officially arrived in East Texas.

I don’t know about you, but it’s my favorite time of year.

There’s nothing better than feeling warm sun on your skin during the day.

We save on electricity, too, flinging the windows open to enjoy the cool breezes during the day and night.

At the beginning of Spring, our front and side yard was a riot of yellow flowers, thanks to the plentiful rain we got in April.

Technically, they’re weeds, but they were still pretty nevertheless.

Another type of wildflower was also blooming on either side of our road.

Our sweet gum tree put on a showy display of a particular shade of green only seen in Spring.

I love looking at this tree from our bedroom window.

Our pine trees also sprouted new growth.

After the weeds grew knee-deep and the flowers started to fade, it was time for the first mowing of the year.

We bought a new zero turn lawn mower to do the job.

The other, standard riding mower we bought a few years ago just wasn’t cutting it.

Pun intended.

Seriously, our old mower just could not do the job well or efficiently.

Of course, Little Miss Thrifty Me did not want to spend more money than I spent on my first car, but after one mowing, we are glad we made the investment.  It cuts like a dream.

Fortunately, this is not a chore that Mark minds doing.  With a cold beverage and some tunes, he’s perfectly content.

Funny how a day spent mowing can make any property look so pretty.

Lovely! And I know that great hall/library/dining space I covet is just inside your pretty red front door. What is a weed but a prolific flower anyway?
