A Quote for Today :: Father’s Day

a special quote for today for father's day - Living Vintagevia

I love this photo so much.  It reminds me of my mom and dad.  She’s wanting affection and he’s amused and acting tough.

My father was no saint, but he loved my mother.  I know this because he spent the night at the house I was renting after my mother asked him for a divorce.  She had grown tired of his drinking and frequent absences.

He sobbed the whole night through.  It broke my heart to hear it.

    Kim, thanks so much for the delightful photo and for sharing your feelings. Is it too hot to take down any houses, haven’t heard anything lately, but my guess it is – ugh spiders and snakes!!!

      We’ve decided to take a break from salvaging old houses. It’s way too hot, and our storage is full.

    Aww. Lovely picture Kim. I like the baby …. scampering around. The quote is amazing. I never read that one before. Just love it. So sensible and definitely meaningful. Your story is a sad one that I am familiar with. Although our dad or mom did not drink, I did witness friends that had those issues. Very difficult all around. Thanks for the Reverend’s quote.

      I’m glad you love the quote and appreciated the story. Yes, it is a sad one and one that I almost didn’t tell because I don’t like to be a Debbie Downer . . . BUT I had to be true to myself. The image sure conjured up the memory.
