Abandoned in Wells

Abandoned in Wells

Wells is one of those “nothing” little towns in Texas (and I mean no disrespect to the residents there — I simply mean it is one of those small towns where if you weren’t paying attention you’d miss it.)

We usually travel through it on our way to Lufkin and one day when I was alone and had time to explore, I got off the beaten path and discovered an old swayback house, not worth the land it’s sitting on, and next to it were two abandoned vehicles.

I thought the colors of the old pickup was particularly lovely.  I thought you might like to see it (and them) also.

Boy, would I love to hear the stories that old truck could tell! I can almost visualize a farmer or such driving that thing down the road! Thanks for giving us a peek into the woods!

I rode in many an old truck like that when I was growing up, and I can hear the stories (real and imagined) too!

Cool. We pass through little towns like that on our way to Santa Fe from Texas. Since we’ve been going, we are seeing the places getting more and more dilapidated each time. It’s sad. We call the buildings “pillage places” and wish we could stop at each one to see what could be salvaged. That truck is awesome and needs to be saved!

I think that truck is so cool, and one day it will just be a pile of rust. I wish I could afford to buy it and restore it. I’ve always thought it would be fun to drive an old pickup.

How you can look at something that most would pass by as junk…and see it’s beauty…is why I love your blog.

I cannot think of a better compliment than the one you just made. Thanks so much, Cindy! It warms my heart to read your kind words.

Kind of sad but yet cool at the same time. I even feel bad for the little house. Thanks for sharing.

It’s wonderful to see others finding beauty in the ruins of our past.
The inside photo of the Chevy truck is wonderful – I love the teal blue peeling paint.
    You’ve got a good eye.
    Thanks for the post.

I’m doing great, but now that I’m working full-time, I don’t have as much time to write posts, but I still have some neat ones I’m thinking about. Thanks, Candice!
