Abandoned Near Alto

abandoned near Alto

This old place sits about 5 miles from our home.  It’s owned by the cousin of another neighbor down the road a bit.

I was told that the cousin had hoped to renovate it and turn it into a museum but funding was (and is) an issue.  It’s surrounded by a couple of huge barns that are falling down.  You can see one of them in these photographs.  The house seems to be in good shape, and I hope to see inside it one day, but until I get the owner’s permission, that will have to wait for another day.

Amazing! I need one! I have room! Hey… I need a falling down barn too. A big one! Rustic. Old. Rusty roofed and heavy timbered. Got any ideas?

I wish I had the funds to buy this and restore….oh well, it doesn’t hurt to dream.

Nice photos. At first I thought it might be the old Forest Hill Plantation house, but it has a historic marker and is bigger. Must be some history there. It’s a shame my mom, Ogreta, is not around to ask. She’d know.

Yeah, I wish I knew more about it, too. Maybe one day if I ever get to meet the owner I’ll find out more.
