Nothing burns … (49/52)

Nothing burns quite like it

We will experience our first freeze this week, and I’m not looking forward to it.  I don’t much like being cold and I’m reminded again that I’ll probably never live in an area of the country where it gets truly frigid for extended periods of time.  But I say “probably never” because I learned a long time ago to “never say never”.

It’s supposed to freeze in Austin too, so I need to cover the plants. Stay warm.

When it gets this cold, I almost wish it would rain too so that I could sleep in a bit. 🙂 We lost electricity for a short time this morning. Thank goodness it was restored a few hours later because I don’t know how I’d get ready for work otherwise. Have a great weekend!

As time moves on and weather patterns shift, who knows, you could be living in a winter wonderland right where you live already. We had some frost in Palestine last week and some pretty dense fog. Lots of rain. But we love the rain so much (after living in Phoenix for so long). We had a wonderful 2 weeks at the farm and have since returned. All I can say is that the weather is bi-polar out there. Warm, cold, frosty, rainy, foggy, clear, and sunny. If you don’t like the TX weather, wait 5 minutes! At least your home is insulated… (unlike ours lol).

This is true. Who knows what the future holds? I’m just grateful for warm clothes and an insulated house right now. Oh, and coffee. I’m grateful for coffee. Can’t wait until you’re a permanent resident in Palestine. Looking forward to meeting you and your wife. You’re right: if you love rain, you are absolutely going to love East Texas. I do love it so for the same reason. And, yes, you’ll have to get used to bipolar Texas as well.

I totally agree, Kim! I am not a fan of the cold. I live just north of the DFW metroplex. We moved back to Texas 28 years ago to escape snow!

I can’t even imagine living somewhere where I had to regularly shovel my way to checking the mail or getting to my car! But I’d do it if I had to, for sure.

That quote is so, so true! Having grown up, and, lived the first part of my life in TX I was transplanted to the great white North (Minnesota) for the second half of my life. It gets miserably cold here and I dread the coming winter. The snow is beautiful, by the sub zero cold and length of the winters are just awful.

I feel your pain, Valerie. Being a native Texan, the coldest weather I’ve ever experienced is icy cold and windy winter days. I cannot imagine living in the northern parts, based on the news coverage I see on CNN and such. I think I’d enjoy the 4 seasons (just seeing them), but that’s about as far as I can go, I think. The utility bills in the North must be outrageous too!
